Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey was born to teenage parents Vernon Winfrey and Vernita Lee on January 29, 1954. Unlike other children, Oprah Winfrey had only unpleasant and an unhappy childhood. Also she faced lot of problems till from the day of birth. During childhood everyone around her used to abuse her because she was born to unwed parents, she was poor and she was black. Her mother was housemaid and her father was working in armed force. Oprah Winfrey was bought up by her grand mother till for the first six years. Only happiness for her at that time was being with grand mother. Even at that age she was gifted with a good reading skill.

After six years, she was forced to live with her mother. At that time she was asked by her mother to look her younger sister. When she was bought up by her mother, she was raped thrice by her relatives. Oprah Winfrey didn’t tell anyone about the abuse she was faced with. Instead she turned those anger and pain into positive energy which helped her to fight against life to reach success. After such incident her mother thought to leave her in detention home. But fortunately Oprah Winfrey was escaped from that trap because there was no opening in the detention home at that time.

Then Oprah Winfrey was sent to Nashville to live with her father. This is the second stroke of luck in her life. When she was fourteen years old, she became pregnant and gave birth to the child. The death of her two months old baby makes her to feel excavated and she was not able to recover from that incidents. Later she tried hard and came out from that situation. Her father helped her lot to make the path clear. Her father taught her how to live with discipline and also motivate her to live with aim. Oprah Winfrey used to read a book every week and at last she writes a report book about the book she read.

Oprah Winfrey pursued B.A. in speech and performing arts in Tennessee state university. During the college days she developed her interest in articles and journalism. Oprah Winfrey started her carrier in media as reporter in radio station at Nashville. Though she has a very tough childhood, she was always blessed with knowledge and talent. She is the first black woman in America who works in radio station. Her show in radio station was of great success and so she got many offers from television. She conducted her tv show “people are talking” in WJZ-TV. This show competes with all the leading shows at tat time and bought Oprah Winfrey a great fame and makes more than 20 million Americans to watch that show. This makes her to get first rank in ratings. She continuously gets succeeded in her carrier and she became the first wealthiest women in America. Though many barriers arise to stop her growth in this field, Oprah Winfrey keeps herself always at first in a good manner. Oprah Winfrey was blessed with the all good qualities and so Americans called her a Best Friend and Lady O.
