Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey was a first black African-American woman to work as news anchor. She started her carrier in WJZ-TV at the age of 19. Her childhood was not a pleasant one but she achieved many things even in that tender age. She was abused by everyone around her and also she was teased by her birth and at the age of nine she was raped thrice by her neighbors and relatives. Even though she has lot of problems with her mother she achieved in her life because of her father’s way of approach towards her. Her father really makes her understand how to face the problems in life. He also taught her how to play the game of life with confidence and to work towards aim. Her childhood was tough but he was blessed with lot of talents and skills. Oprah Winfrey started reading books and articles in her childhood and also she used to speak fluently and wisely about any topic in childhood. This gives her inspiration to become a great public speaker in future.

Lady O started her carrier as news anchor in radio station first and later she shifted to television studio. Because of her extra-ordinary talent Oprah Winfrey got promotion in her job very soon. More than 20 million Americans were the viewers of her program and later those programs were broadcasted worldwide, this brings Oprah Winfrey world fame. She pursued B.A. in speech and arts at Tennessee state university. She was graduated as an Honor student. She was the first ranker in entertainment weekly in 1998. She was dropped to sixth rank in 1999; still she was the highest ranked performer and also highest ranked women. Oprah Winfrey was the only African-American who entered in the list. Also it should be noted that she was the first black woman to enter in the millionaire list.

Oprah Winfrey is the first women in the history who conduct her own talk shows in television program. This makes herself to motivate to reach further. Oprah Winfrey also got chance to act in a spielberg’s movie. She used that chance effectively and succeeds in film industry too. This makes her a chance for her to enter as one of the twelve “Promising New Actors of 1985” in John Willi’s screen world. Also Oprah Winfrey was chosen by magazine named “People” as one of the 50 Most beautiful people in the world in 1997.

Oprah Winfrey was given an “Honorary National Book” award for her great influence in reading books and articles. Even at the age of 19 she used to read the books and after reading book she used to write the report book about the book. This habit helps her to improve her skills better and reach such greatness.

Oprah Winfrey was ranked first 1st in VH1’s list of the “200 Greatest Pop Icons in 2003” by beating superman and Elvis. In 2006 she got third place in the list of annual Forbes magazine Celebrity 100. Also she was elected to the National Women’s hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, New York.
